Fiesta Latina Brought the Heat to Front St!

If you were on Front Street last Friday (August 7), then you already know... Fiesta Latina was bursting with music, culture, colour, and community from beginning to end.
As the summer sun set over Downtown New Westminster, Front Street Mews transformed into a lively tropical celebration where neighbours, families, and visitors came together to dance, connect, and experience the incredible diversity of Latin American culture!
Music, Movement & Fiesta Energy
Our fabulous host Justin Abit kicked off the evening with his signature charm and infectious energy, keeping the crowd smiling all night long.
The stage then came alive with the breathtaking performances of Roots Peruvian Dance, who shared traditional dances inspired by Peru's rich cultural landscapes—from the Amazon rainforest to the Pacific coast.
Next, Batucada Abrace brought the unmistakable rhythms of Brazil to the Mews. Their powerful percussion had people clapping along, dancing in the streets—we saw you doing some samba moves, and embracing the joyful spirit of the evening.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Sacred Sol delivered the perfect finale with their unique blend of soul, funk, and Latin fusion, creating the soundtrack for an unforgettable summer night.

Festival-goers enjoyed flavours from around the world thanks to another fantastic lineup of food trucks:

Our beverage tent kept everyone refreshed with local favourites from Steel & Oak Brewing Co. and Heartberry Soda, making it easy to relax, connect, and enjoy the festivities.🍺🫐
Celebrating Local Businesses
Fridays On Front is all about celebrating community, and Fiesta Latina was no exception! A special thank you to all of our local vendors, especially our Downtown New West business members Portside Law Corporation, Charm & Champagne Beauty Studio, Peoples Music Therapy, Serpent Skin Tattoo, Grapevine Tattoo, and The Hyve Tattoo Studio, who helped create a vibrant marketplace filled with creativity and local talent. Families also enjoyed interactive activities hosted by New West Family Place, making the festival a welcoming space for visitors of all ages.

We're taking a short break over the July 31 long weekend, but don't worry—the fun is far from over!
We'll be back on Friday, August 7 with Fiesta Latina, bringing vibrant music, even more delicious food, incredible performances, and plenty of dancing to the Mews once again.
