Fridays On Front Fiesta Latina Night
Thank You for Dancing the Night Away, New West!
Well well well, New Westminster… last Friday, August 8th, you showed up and turned Front Street Mews into the hottest block party north of the equator! We’re here — still fanning ourselves after all that music, colour, and flavour we soaked up at our Fiesta Latina Night.
From the very first drumbeat to the last conga line, we lived it, we loved it, and we shook it ‘til the streetlights dimmed. And honey, it wouldn’t have been possible without you.
A special thanks to our glamorous photographer for the wonderful pics: Moniza Perim 📸
A Feast for the Senses 😋
The evening kicked off at 6 pm sharp, and from the moment you stepped into Front St, it felt like we’d all been transported straight into the heart of Latin America.
We ate our way through six fabulous food trucks: Crema Ice Cream, BB’s Gourmet Dogs, Taco ’N Todo, Roasted Revolution, Tokyo Katsu-Sand, and Cheez². This gorgeous food truck lineup served the best menu, making e people humming after every bite!
Of course, we had our friends from Steel & Oak Brewing Co. pouring cold beer, plus red and white wine flowing all evening for a little extra “olé.”
The Showstoppers💥
Let’s talk about our incredible performers:
🥁 Batucada Abrace – a Brazilian drum group who lit up the street with their rhythms, pulling everyone into a whirlwind of dance and joy.
💃 Roots Peruvian Dance – sharing Peru’s cultural heart through stunning traditional dances from across the country.
🎧 DJ Mixxx – spinning every Latin American classic from “Macarena” to “Danza Kuduro” and keeping that dance floor packed ‘til the very last beat. Yes, there was a conga line, and yes, I was at the front.
And can we have a moment for our glamorous Drag King host Justin Abit? Starting the night with a Fireball number that set the tone, spilling all the tea between acts, and joining in for the conga line finale — pure showbiz magic.

A big thank you to our Downtown New West BIA members Charm & Champagne Beauty & Studio for all the fun activities and prize draws, and the talented ink artists at Serpent Skin Tattoo Collective, who were once again present on this special evening!
And Mayor Patrick Johnstone: your support and presence in another Fridays On Front was very much appreciated. Thanks for joining in the fun and supporting our local community!
Finally, we couldn’t have brought this festival to life without our dedicated volunteers – you have kept the wheels turning and the party glowing throughout the summer and we appreciate each and every one of you.
Produced by Downtown New West BIA, we’d like to thank Douglas College for presenting this amazing event with us, our sponsors Translink and Tourism New West, and of course, Steel & Oak Brewing Co, for the fabulous beer!
