Bollywood Night: A Colourful, Spicy, Slay-Fest!
Oh honey, if you missed last Fridays On Front Bollywood Night, then I suggest you sit down, sip some chai, and prepare yourself for a full rundown of what went down.
Yes, darlings, it was a night to remember in downtown New Westminster!
On July 18th, Front Street Mews transformed into a spicy, full-volume celebration of all things Bollywood. The music? Iconic. The colours? Poppin’. The energy? Immaculate. I mean, we had folks dancing in the street until the last minute!
A special thanks to our glamourous photographer for the wonderful pics: Moniza Perim
Let’s Talk Food, Honey
Front Street was smelling delicious all night long thanks to the best local food trucks from this side of the Fraser River: Indish, Dos Amigos, Jugal’s, Stackers, J’s Disco Dogs, and Cheez². All of these mouthwatering flavours had people lining up for seconds (and thirds).
Pair it all with craft beer from Steel & Oak Brewing Co., plus red and white wine, the party was officially ON.
The Showstopper Line-Up
To start the evening, our host, Justin Abit, delivered a bombshell dance on stage and kept the energy high as the crowd hyped all evening long. Serving looks, laughs, and pure charisma — Justin knew how to work that mic.
And honey, Ra, the Drag Deity, turned the stage into a slaysian runway of rhythm. She served and sparkled brighter than a sari under stage lights.
Closing out the night, DJ Raytrix had the whole street bouncing! From classic Bollywood beats to bass drops that shook the bricks — the entire mews turned into a dance floor, and nobody wanted it to end!
A Massive Thank You!
To all the incredible attendees, vendors, volunteers, and performers — THANK YOU! You showed up, showed out, and helped make Fridays on Front: Bollywood Night a night to remember. From families dancing, shopping, and enjoying henna painting, to folks discovering their new favourite local food truck, this night was pure joy.
A special thanks to our BIA members, Bosley’s — who rocked their tent’s decor and kept all the doggos hydrated with their water bowls during the event, Churi and their handcrafted goodies, Key West Ford for literally bringing the light with their powered truck, and Serpent Skin’s talented tattoo artists! We were thrilled to have these incredible businesses joining this special night and connecting with our community!
Also, a huge shoutout for our partner Douglas College, and sponsors Port of Vancouver and Key West Ford for another successful event!
Show Your Support And Appreciation To New West’s South Asian Community:
During the past Fridays On Front, our crew walked along Front Street Mews with a QR code that directed to the donation page for the Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar, a Sikh temple located in Queensborough; a cultural learning and gathering place which welcomes all and serves the whole community.
If you didn't have the chance to make your donation last Friday and want to contribute to the important work of this temple, click on the button below:
